Now celebrating its 35th season, the Burns Park Players does it again this season with "Kiss Me, Kate", featuring the delightful music of Cole Porter. This beloved musical is a hilarious show-within-a-show, involving the production of a musical version of The Taming of the Shrew. The audience is transported into the wings of a touring company which includes a battling couple, Fred Graham (the show’s director, producer, and star) and his leading lady, ex-wife Lilli Vanessi. A secondary romance concerns Lois Lane (the actress playing Bianca) and her gambler boyfriend, Bill, a ne’er do well, who is in hot water with gangsters. "Kiss Me, Kate" is a riotous ode to the business of theater and the savvy, creative, and madcap characters who create the magic. The songs of "Kiss Me, Kate" include “Why Can’t You Behave,” “Wunderbar,” “So in Love,” “We Open in Venice,” “Too Darn Hot,” “Always True to You,” "Another Openin' " and the hilarious “Brush Up Your Shakespeare.”
